Saturday night was the end of Katie's chemo. Thank goodness. The effects of the chemo are cumulative, so by the time Saturday evening and Sunday rolled around, Katie was feeling pretty crappy. That mostly meant nausea and general fatigue from the treatment and the drug cocktail they gave her. Today she's feeling a little better, but is still pretty sleepy.
On another front, we mentioned that Katie had the sniffles before. They're pretty much gone today. She had a fever last night, but hasn't had one all day. Finally, the cultures they took when her fever first presented came back negative on all counts. Hopefully we're though this bump in the road.
It's not all bad at Eleven Long though. As I speak Katie is getting a foot massage. Turns out that a massage therapist visits every Monday. Man, if you have to go through a bone marrow transplant, this is the place to be!
Also, Cami is Katie's nurse again today. All the nurses are great, but Cami is extra cool. She and Katie were joking after ten minutes. It happened to be at the expense of their respective husbands, but I'll gladly be the butt end of a joke if it makes my girl laugh.

P.s. This picture doesn't have anything to do with the post, but it's a cute one of the boy so we'll go with it.

Dear Katie,
Thank you Ian for the latest update-really appreciate it a lot. My computer has been smoking the last 5 days waiting for news each day.
I am so glad that the chemo is done but sad to hear that you are feeling punky. Hopefully, you'll start feeling better soon.
Thank you Cami for being so good to my daughter-I as her mom and a nurse really can apreciate you and so glad that you are there for her in whatever way that she needs. Nursing is a challenging profession and it never gets dull to say the least.
Well, I'm reading Dolly Parton's Autobiography. Yeah, I'm still into country music. So I guess I'll go to bed and read a few pages. Talk with you tomorrow-thank you so much for this blog.
Much Love,
Mom

Yay Katie! I'm so glad you're past the chemo hurdle. And I'm jealous of the foot massage!

Dear Katie,
Good Morning, Katie. Yeah, the chemo is finally over!!!! Now on to the healing stuff and feeling better and better.
It is raining still and has all night-in fact thunder and lightening with it. Sounds like the angels have been doing their carpets all night and moving furniture.
Made me think of the time we went with the Montgomery's camping and it rained the whole time. We ended up going to the laundrsmat to dry evrything out. It was not a fun time-guess that's why we went to the beach the rest of the times. We always had a great time there. I was trying to think of Jerry's girl's names-Robin, Laurie, and Vickie. I think. Of course, there was Matt and Becky. Boy, when Don and I went to the Outer Banks last fall, it sure brought back some awesome memories. I think those were some of the best times that I can remember. I loved it there and I think you did , too. Remember Peter and the cotton in his ears to protect the tubes? We started calling him Peter Cottontail becasue the cotton made him look like a rabbit, POOR KID. But he took it in stride, GOOD KID!!!
We have a stray dog here and we are trying to find its home. I really don't want another mouth to feed-3 cats and 2 dogs is enough!!! I have to admit he is a cutie and I have a hard time running him off much to Don's frustration. I think Don is getting the bebe gun to discourage him from staying around. UGH!!!
Well, got to go do a few errands in town and want to get it over with.
Talk with you later.
Love,
Mom

Hi,
So glad chemo is over. I just paraded around our office in my penguin pajamas for you. I think I offered meatloaf right when Katie couldn't keep down oatmeal- jeez talk about inappropriate. But, later when you can keep down porridge, maybe that offer might be more tempting. Lemme know.
Ian, you're a Champ- that needed a capital letter. We're here for you, too. Maybe that meatloaf offer should be for you and Zach and your parents or Jenny and Peter, especially with the new baby. Another heartmelter of a garden kiss picture of Zach. I swear my ovaries are doing unfamiliar things. Oy Vey, not the Plan. Love to all.
