Sunrise hike ...

This morning, just before dawn, Ian and I climbed Ring Mountain to watch the sunrise. It was very beautiful and we actually talked about future things that didn't involve cancer, being sick, cancer treatment or anything in the medical/health gendre, actually. Wonder that!

I am very anxious to be "done," but I know I've got some more healing to do. Believe me, I am doing everything I know how to do to kick some CLL ass! Keep your supportive vibes burning ...

much love,
Katie

Chris:

What a great entry! So glad you are healthy enough to get out and do things like this. I saw sunrise this morning on my bike ride and I always find it to be one of the most life affirming things I can do. So so glad your recovery is going well!!!!

Lisa:

Katie!
Long time no chat! I'm sorry I've been off the radar. I'm so glad that you a doing well! Hell, you are in better shape than I am! Those are beautiful pictures. It's been a long time since I've seen a sunrise and you make me miss San Francisco!

So, how does Zach like school? Jessie is going to start in October and I'm very nervous to pack her lunch and drop her off! Little monkey.

Great way to start the day. Great pics. Love the journaling.

Mom:

Dear katie,
Picked up your email late last night and still have more to tell you about the election campaign. But I need to collect my thoughts better.
I love the pictures-YES, there is life after cancer!!! Lots of people have proven just that and so gald that you are getting there. Remember when your dad used to get up early at Cape Hatteras to take sunrise pictures? I used to get up with him and enjoyed it so mcuh.
Well, today we are cutting our grass. But Don has it so under control that it is easy compared to what we did yesterday. Out here you have to worry about fire in the dry season and keep things trimmed and cut down around buildings and don't collect stuff to lay around and collect tall grass. Also it is good to keep varments away like snakes whcih is a good thing for me. I go absolutely bolistic when I see a snake. I've seen only one but that was on too many as far as I am concerned.
Well got to get mowing, I also want to clean my car today. Tomorrow I am going to Pryor which is about 2 hours away. I am mentoring an 18 year old who has gotten herself in trouble with the law and is in a military school to haelp her get on track. I hope I can be there for her for whatever she needs. I'm trying anyway. Trying to give back something to the country to the best of my ability.
Well, I'll get my thoughts together on the campaign and email them to you then.
Love,
MOm

Mer:

Hi girlfriend,
You look absolutely RADIANT in these photos. The one on top reminds me of the big smile on your face the night we attended the Webbies - remember that??? I still have the photo - you did my hair in dreadlocks that night. Something I could only have pulled off at 26 :-)

I feel so lucky to have had the chance to catch up with you and visit a few weeks ago. I love you so much - keep the healing energy going and rocking on! Much love to Ian, Zach, Marlene & Ron too.
Hugs,
Mer

That bottom picture is so cool.
You look like a rock star.
This is like your promotional shot that the record company send to the music mags.

Laura:

The 2nd picture gave me chills. It is amazing to see you as you rise again...you inspire me and I am so awed at your spirit, determination and emerging optimism...live on, Katie!

LizB:

You look amazing, and I'm in awe of your progress. You seem healthier post-BMT than some people ever seem! Thanks for sharing your milestones.

Bridget Zarling:

I absolutely LOVE that pic of you at sunrise...it is so beautiful. Keep kicking CLL's butt and I hope to see you soon. BTW, have you tried "The Office" series yet on DVD? It's super funny.
