Zoe and I went trick-or-treating and Zoe dressed up as her special cuddly friend "Mimi" and I went as my trusty kitty "Kitty." We went door to door, said "Trick or Treat" and people gave us candy. I love to shove food into my "pie-hole" (my Daddy taught me that ... and then Mom gave him "the look"). In this photo, Dad expertly captures the sideways snarl that always comes right before I sink my choppers into some real good eats. Yum.

Some of my favorite foods right now:

Green beans
Anything with ground beef (and I can tell when it's chicken or turkey, yo!)
Popsicles
Hot dogs
Ham

One of the best things about being a kid is grandparents ... and mine are the bomb! They treat me like a little prince and always do special things for me. Like here I am riding in my chariot through the forest (backyard) on my way to the jungle (front yard). I'm nibbling on a freshly picked strawberry from G-Paw's personal strawberry patch (Grandmama says I can only pick the red ones) and squealling with delight. In the background, you can't see it, but there's my personal pool ... Grandmama fills it up with half hose water/half jacuzzi water so the temperature's just right. Boy, this is the life ... Why can't I stay with G-Paw and Grandmama all the time? Sigh.

I love music -- or "mus" (sounds like cross between "moose" and "mews"), as I like to call it. When Daddy gets me up in the morning, it's the first thing I ask for ... If he puts on something I don't like, I just keep repeating "mus, mus, mus" as if he hadn't put on anything at all. Lately, I've started asking for favorites ... like The Beatles.

I also LOVE IT when Mommy and Daddy sing "Ball Game" (which is "Take Me Out to the Ball Game"). When they get to the end of the song, I always shriek with enthusiasm the words "Play ball!" I'm not sure what that means yet, but I think it has something to do with this game Mommy and Daddy watch on TV ... You know, the one with the all those old guys wearing orange and black ...

I've got stylin' hair, everybody says so ... And, in order to complete my studman bravado, I've taken to calling everyone "baby." I tried it out for the first time at the annual family 4th of July BBQ ... I walked right up to my Aunt Kay and said "Hey baby" ... Boy, did she look at my parents in surprise!

I figure a lot of people call me "baby" ... and my mom and dad call each other "baby," so why shouldn't it work for me? See ya, baby ...

I know it's been a long time since I've written, but I've been very busy. Now that I'm almost 1 1/2, I have places to go, people to see and important responsibilities. For instance, who else could greet coffee shop patrons with such personal flair? Who but me is willing to go through all the work of pulling everything out of the drawers at home? You tell me.

I am also walking and talking ... what a boon! You'd be surprised by my rich vocabulary. I often use words like "more" and "bye" ... but then I also impress my parents by busting out words like "broccoli" and "helicopter." For the most part, I speak rather well, but sometimes I mispronounce words, which can be deftly cute.

Here are some of Mommy and Daddy's favorite Zachisms:

"awful" = waffle
"ah-puss" = octopus
"fly" = butterfly
Oh ... and anything round is a "ball"

Well, folks, I'm ONE. And now that I've passed this first major milestone in life, I've gained certain privileges:

1) I get to drink cow's milk instead of formula
2) I'm giving up the bottle in favor of the sippy cup
3) I get to face forward in the car
4) I can eat WHATEVER I want, except nuts

It's not quite turning 21, but I'll take it, ya know?

Also, I just had my 1-year check-up today ... I gained a little over a pound and grew two whole inches! Most importantly, I'm 100% healthy and developmentally on track (duh!). You know I'll be walking soon (look out, ladies!) ... and then there'll be no stopping me. I'm already getting into everything -- at least that's what my mom says, with an eye roll. See how good I'm getting with my blocks? I know they go together somehow.

Mommy took me to visit someone named Santa Claus ... She said that he's a big, jolly man who wants to bring me gifts ... All I need to do is sit on his lap and tell him what I want. I was thinking of asking for my own cell phone (one that really works, thank you very much -- not someone's old reject) or maybe a plant that I would be allowed to tear apart. But when Mom actually put me on his lap, I didn't feel so good. Hey, Mom ... Where you going?
